3/29/04 1:17:54 PM: Food in China is interesting to say the least. People that live near China accuse their people of eating anything that moves, and the Chinese don’t contend this. I’m not 100% sure, but I think those are cow brains on the left, and it looks like chicken feet and chicken heads on the right. Today I saw some kind of grub–larvae. It was the size of a large, fat acorn, dark brown, and half of it was gyrating. They drop it in oil for a short time, and, well, I’m not totally sure how you eat it. These worm things are expensive, and the man would not sell me just one.
Chinese food is generally very good and more healthy than food in the states, though they like to fry a lot of foods in oil. There are a lot of hot–pots – where there is a big boiling pot in the middle of the table and everyone drops in meats, veggies, eggs, and other unidentifiable foods. The BBQ’s in China are excellent.
